The American Radium Society is accepting abstract submissions for the 94th Annual Meeting. To facilitate abstract submission and review, abstracts will only be accepted on-line. Original contributions should be submitted for consideration; any work that has already been accepted for publication or previously presented is not eligible.
We especially welcome the participation from those who are in training or have just completed residency or fellowship in any of the oncology disciplines. Trainees who submit a completed manuscript by November 18, 2011, dealing with subjects related to clinical, translational or basic research are eligible for the Young Oncologist's Essay Awards. These awards provide an honorarium of $500 plus reimbursement up to $2000 for travel. Young Oncologist Travel Grants of $1000 will also be available for outstanding abstracts that are reviewed favorably for oral presentation at the Annual Meeting. The 94th Annual Meeting of the American Radium Society will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 28-May 2, 2012. The ARS Meeting is the world’s oldest multidisciplinary cancer conference and has a tradition of scientific excellence, collegiality, and a multidisciplinary scientific program.
The theme for this year’s meeting will be Personalized Medicine in an Impersonal World. The Scientific Program Committee, chaired by Dr. Andre Konski, is in the process of recruiting an extraordinary group of lecturers and panelists. The meeting also will blend outstanding scientific presentations, panel discussions, a debate and presentations of original scientific abstracts. Keynote speakers will include, Dr. Mark Pegram of the University of Miami and Dr. Laura v’ant Veer of the University of California San Francisco, as well as Dr. David Larson of the University of California San Francisco as this year’s Janeway Lecturer.
CONTINUING THIS YEAR:
- The ARS will offer a Post Graduate Course on the Saturday preceding the meeting. This year, the course will be Lung Cancer Management: Personalize or Punt?
- Meet the Professor luncheons will be offered by Dr William Small of Northwestern University and Dr. Sue Yom of University of California San Francisco.
